On today’s MasonShow, pigs flew!

What? I can’t believe I missed THAT…  Oh! Pig flu?! Sorry, I was half listening… (Note to self; Schedule marketing meeting with Pizza Hut, RE: Pandemic Pan-Pizza Deal! One of the most searched topics online. Bacon Lovers? Also, get dictionary.. look up “pandemic”.)

Unfortunatly, Heidi & Spencer are taking precautions to avoid the sickness while on honeymoon in Mexico. Darn.

The number has to be 100+ cases of the new strain of influenza in America. First confirmed American death reported, a 23 month old child. The W.H.O. (World Health Organization) has raised the threat level to 5! ..which makes me wonder what the threat level scale looks like.. 1 to 10? 1 to 50? They said the threat of a pandemic is immenent.

It's all this kid's fault!

This is Edgar Hernandez, of Veracruz. He is “patient zero”; the first documented case of swine flu… sorry, H1-N1. He lives in La Gloria, a village of 3000 people, down a dusty road, in a small mountian village.. SURROUNDED BY PIG FARMS! BINGO! Got him. Lab tests cleared other people in the April 2nd “outbrak”, but only Edgar tested positive for the new strain of flu virus.  He’s fine, thankfully, but several others are not, and fear is driving people in Mexico City to the hospitals to get checked out, only to be turned away by armed guards. Craziness. The government closed colleges, asked resteraunts to close their dining rooms, postponed sporting events, and even cancelled church! Wow.. Mind you, the average flu virus kills  WAY more people than this has, every year. The fear is that it’s a new strain of virus, that nobody has had before, so there is no pre-vaccination, and no prior immunity. Mortality rate may be higher than other influenza viruses. (That from a Doc at Emory University School of Medicine in Georgia.)

They’ve reported a shortage of sugical masks in Mexico, unforunatly, after Heidi & Spencer got theirs, but I’ve seen CNN and others with reporters ON THE STREETS in Mexico City, with NO MASKS! That’s worse than sending them into the middle of a hurricane. Terrible. (Note to self, again: move all stock money into sugical masks.)

Well, I should say their lawyers were back in court today. Rihanna’s borrowed jewels are being released from the LAPD evidence locker, and Chris Brown’s lawyer is trying to get the case dismissed because of the leak of Rihanna’s photo from the incident.

Idol Idle Thoughts.

Matt goes home tonight. Atleast I hope. I don’t think I want to have to wait an hour to find that out, so I’m going to DVR it, and then FFWD thru most of it. Gonna go have dinner-breakfast (Dinkfast). I will edit this later, if need be. I’m doubting, however, that need will actually be. I dunno who’s performing the stereotypical “theme montage” of Rat Pack Standards.. Maybe they can get Jamie Foxx, T-Pain & the Vocoder computer to perform their hit “Blame It”. Whatevs..  Time for breakfast.

Human-Bird-Pig flu!

150+ dead in Mexico. They’re saying the “threat of a pandemic, is real!”. Confirmed cases in NY, CA, TX, OH, MI & FL. I had a few moments over the last 24 hours where I stopped to check my temperature. I keep thinking I’m getting the Swine Flu! Symptoms are high fever, around 102, headache, chills, cough that REALLY hurts, and aches and pains. Some have said vomiting, and diharrea. (Which I heard Faith say on the air on WBNQ, and I lol’ed, because mentally I’m 7.) You can try to stay pig-flu-free by washing your hands, covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and keep your fingers out of your mouth and eyes. Peronsally, I’m taking a Purel bath, twice daily.

They are saying it’s a combination of Bird, Pig & Human influenza, so they’re still figuring it out. Treatment is available, but you can’t wait to get checked out. The sickest people are the ones who waited. Call the Doc, stay home from work, get some sleep & drink lots of fluids. It’s an airborn virus, so don’t worry about eating pork. I don’t care what combination of bird & pig flu ya got, I’m not gonna stop eating fried chicken & bacon.

Rihanna’s 1.4million dollar late fee

She borroed over a million dollars in jewelry for Grammy parties, and it’s all sitting in the LAPD evidence locker. They are not even sure if they will use any of it in the case, but have to hold onto it.  The jewelers are now asking for 1.4 million dollars in damages & late fees. I hear that tomorrow there is something happening with the Chris Brown/Rihanna case.  Check back, sucka.

I found a list of 20 jobs at $20 an hour. The list includes massage therapist, if you don’t mind touching random people, funeral director, if you don’t mind touching dead people, and DJ… wait.. $20 an hour? Time to  take another look at my contract….

It’s “Rat Pack Standards” night. Jamie Foxx is the surprise coach tonight.

Why?

Kris Allen “The Way You Look Tonight”.  Jamie Foxx says he’d collaborate with him. I wonder how Kris feels about the auto-tone, vocoder thing that Jamie & T-Pain use.. He’s safe this week, maybe in the bottom 3, only because the performances get progressivly better tonight.

Allison Irahita “Someone To Watch Over Me”  Is it going to be battle of the sexes week, where the girl goes home? Maybe. I was bored. She can sing, but, is she the American Idol? At 17?. I am not sure. Maybe in the bottom 3, but, theres only 5 people left, so, that’s not sayin’ much.

Matt Giraud “My Funny Valentine” Good bye Matt. See you at the tour. (Sidenote; Matt is the VoteForTheWorst.com pick this week.)

Danny Gokey “Come Rain Or Come Shine”  Smug f#ck.. His no-tooth smiles make me want to punch bricks. He was really good this week. Safe.

Adam Lambert has closed more shows this season than anybody I can remember. Headed to the finals. I’m typing this before he has even performed. Unless he comes out in full drag, and says he hates babies and real women, there is no way he can lose. He could probably do all that stuff, and still get to the final.  His song choice, honestly, doesn’t matter.

Simon has said “I would put my money on Adam & Danny.” for the final. He says “they are the best two singers, & at the end of the day that is what should happen.”

Tomorrow, the Idol Results show will air, regardless of the President speaking on ABC, NBC & CBS. Fox can make alot more money with advertising during that slot, meanwhile, other networks will air a commercial free speech from Barack. They decided to deny the White House request for airtime. Pretty ballsy, but pretty awesome.

I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here

It’s getting warmer, and quickly becoming season finale…. season. Where your favorite shows go away and are replaced with shows like America’s Got Talent, and American Gladiators, and America’s Got Talented Gladiators… “I”m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here” is one of those shows, that will only be around for a few weeks(thankfully). Tomorrow morning they announce the NBC-MTV partnership to get Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Janice Dickinson, & Geraldo Rivera, all on an island, and film it for television. The show will debut June 1st.

Rod Blagojevich was supposed to be on the show, as well, but the judge told him he couldn’t leave the country.

Rod Blagojevich was trying to get out of some trouble by heading out to Costa Rica & tape a reality show for NBC. “I’m a Celebrity.. Get Me Out Of Here!” is going to start shooting soon, but a judge said that he can’t go. I heard Geraldo was supposed to be on the show too. After that, I don’t think I would want to watch a show featuring old men with odd hair or a big fuzzy moustache, in Costa Rica. Swimming around.. *shiver… No thanks NBC.. I wasn’t gonna comment on this Disco Medly, but now that KC is out there. I can’t help it.. He kept peeking at Simon, who is probably cringing. KC is old, and should not have done this. Put a guitar in his hands, stand him beind a mic, but don’t put him out there with dancers. Maybe they thought the dancers would take the focus on how effin’ terrible he was gonna be. *shrug

 The Normal Nutz

There is an online vote to name the new Normal Professional Baseball team, and their using words like “Scandal” “Conspiracy” and even “Rigged” . The Normal Baseball website has a vote along the right hand side. Monday afternoon, the Normal Coal Bears were ahead with 47%. Tuesday morning, 3:30am, Coal Bears with 95%. I figured it was over with. Now there is a code you have to enter, to prevent “bots” from voting, and the voting must have been reset.

Currently, the results are showing the Nutz in the lead with 78%. Last night, while swimming in the twitterverse, I saw a tweet that said NormalNutz.com had been registered over a month ago. Which lead me to believe the name-vote was only for publicity. Well, it is working. People are talking/tweeting/blogging/writing about it. So much so that some upset tweeps have registered and posted their concerns at NormalCoalBears.com.

I know my hometown of Saginaw, MI got the Colbert Bump when the Saginaw Spirit got blessed with the Steagle Colbeagle as a sidekick mascot.

I thought it was pretty cool to have my town on the Colbert Report, and figured, if there’s anybody who’s willing to have his name attached to anything, it’s Stephen Colbert. Also, the Spirit won their next 7 games after the Colbert Bump.

I also know, that if there is anybody who’s going to broadcast the games, and be the media partner with the new Normal Baseball Team, it will be most likely be Radio Bloomington. Whatever the result, the online vote is getting more “buzz” than the recount for Mayor of Bloomington . (Even if it was for just for publicity, it’s working, and I can’t wait to go to opening day, regardless of the name.)

New Normal Baseball interweb-vote.

Somethin’s fishy in the name of the new Normal Professional Baseball Team. Last night, at 7, The Normal “Coal Bears” was in the lead with 47%. By 3am this morning, they were in the lead with 98%. Currently, they’re second with 39% of the vote. Currently the “Normal Nutz” lead with 61% of the vote. I have a strange feeling that regardless of how the vote ends up, we will never see the Normal Coal Bears play a game, we’ll never have Stephen Colbert throw out the first pitch, and we’ll never get to hear a whole new slew of un-creative “Normal” jokes on Comedy Central. Maybe that’s a good thing.

Chris Allen – She Works Hard For The Money. Donna Summer from a dude? Oh snap! I think I like this. Not very “disco” but, I really liked his spin. Safe.

Danny Gokey – Earth Wind & Fire! September. He’s good. Safe… but, getting predictable too. Sounds the same every week, but is steadily safe. Also.. looks like Seth Rogan.

Allison Irahita – Hot Stuff. She slowed it down, but she’s gettin’ kinda predictable too. Maybe that’s not the right word.. it’s standard. Regular. I expect what I’m hearing. I’m bored. Bottom 3.

C – The Normal NightHawks! – A little known fact; Normal is the natural summer breeding habitat of the magestic NightHawk, which, until my recent Google search, I thought was a mythological creature…. The owl-like common nighthawk, sometimes called the “bull-bat” because it flies like it’s blind, can be found pursuing flying insects at dusk and dawn, from Brazil to the northern parts of Canada, and all points in between.. so.. maybe Normal, Illinois isn’t exactly their normal habitat… atleast no more so than ANY OTHER CITY IN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES!

Finally – The Normal Coal Bears! – Yeahhh! Sounds like a winner to me! The “Coal Bears” are rumored to have a bear mascot wearing a coal miners hat.. A publicity stunt? Maybe.. but, it’s got me talking about it on the radio and blogging about it, which is getting people to know about it, which means; Mission Accomplished.

The “Coal Bears” are currently in the lead, with “NightHawks” a close second, Nutz in 3rd, and (thankfully) CornBelters are at the bottom. Go vote, help us get the Colbert Bump from the Colbert Nation!

Idol Idle Thoughts.

First off.. Why is Quentin Tarantino the Idol mentor this week? “Songs of the Cinema” Great he makes movies. Should I quote Simon? “It’s a SINGING competition”

I’m becoming an Idol Prediction Pro! I think of the last few weeks, my predictions have all come true. You don’t have to check past posts, or anything, just.. trust me. Last week, I know I was right about Scott going home. That’s all that matters.

Amanda Irahita – Aerosmith “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing.” I kinda hate this song. Downer. Didn’t seem like she was giving it her all to me. Like she only served up 75%. Judges were happy, tho. I think she could be in the bottom 3.

Anoop Desai – Bryan Adams – “Everything I Do”  Aw! I loved Robin Hood and Morgan Freeman as “Azeem”. They’re not saying “booooo” they’re saying “Anoooooop!”

Adam Lambert says he’s gonna bring a little “Electronic” to “Born To Be Wild”. This should be… oh jeez.. he skipped to the front of the stage.. OH Tounge Check! YeeeaaaaaAAAHHHH!!!! Nevah, gonna diiieeeeEEEAAAhhhhh!! *tounge. I hate him, but he’s safe.

I originally said Anoop would go home. Before they even performed. After the show, I say Chris, or Matt, or Anoop. Is that the bottom 3? Maybe. Tomorrow, Jennifer Hudson returns to the show that gave her a huge break, and Mily Cyrus performs “The Climb”. She sings; “There’s always gonna be another mountian, I’m always gonna wanna make it move. It’s all about the climb.” I’m weirded out when a 16 year old is giving life advice.

Idle Idol Thoughts.

I’ll predict 3 that are going down, 3 that are safe, and 2 that are in between.. Time to learn names. Elite eight on the 8th season.

Danny Gokey – Stand by me. Opener always does well. Danny seems a little smug. Not very excited. Too many people have told him he can sing. Sometimes people need to have the motivation to work harder, and remain humble. Still safe this week.

Kris Allen – All She wants to do is dance. I’m not sure how I feel about him in the middle of the crowd, or acting like he’s playing guitar. Is there even any guitar in this song. I don’t hear any. Just sayin’.. Also.. Don Henley..? Really? Bottom 3.

Lil Rounds. What’s love got to do with it! I’m a butt guy. She can sing, too. She’s up by 2 so far… OMG! The origin of LIl Rounds! Grammy Lllly..they dropped the “y” and just made it Lil. I always thought it was really about the booty! DAMN! She killed it, in my opinion, but the judges sure didn’t think so. I’m on the fence here. I thought she could make it till the end this year, but they’re kinda right, she sounded and looked like Tina. Bottom 3 last week for Lil, possibly this week. My first “swing” pick. Could go either way.

ANOOOOOP DOOOOOGGGGGG — True Colors. Anoop will be in the bottom 3 because he had to apologize this week, and he said he blames his mother for not liking to take pictures.. Bottom 3.

Scott The Blind Guy Macintyre – Trains. I think I had a train thing when I was a kid too. Dig it. WHOA! No piano.. but a guitar. Does he even know how to play the guitar.. now, i could hear that amp.. Back on Kris.. not so much.. “I LOOK INTO YOUR EEEEEEEYYYYYS!” AWKWARD LYRIC. Bottom 3.

Allison Irahita– I Can’t make you love me. Bonnie Raiit. Always one of my top choices when i hit the juke box.. also, that was a lie. Safe.

Matt Giuard – Part Time Lover! OMG It’s justin timberlake with a lil growl! Oh, nevermind, it’s Matt, He was good for a bit, but lost a bit it trying to flex the vocal muscle. Still safe. Judges moving fast, running low on time. My 2nd “swing” contestant. Could go either way for him.

Now, to this… Adam Lambert — “I played dress up, not soccer” Mad World is a great song. He’s so theatrical.. Could we thru one performance, without seeing his tounge.. .. .. wow. We did, but I didn’t like the end, however Simon gave a standing O. wow. That doesn’t happen! Show closer usually safe.

Adam should star in a huge broadway musical. Which he probably will, after he loses his idol record contract.
